5 STEPS FOR MOVING FORWARD: CHURCH
In order to provide the most effective training, coaching and discipleship experience, the 5 Steps to Moving Forward is an impartial process that will engage your staff (paid and volunteer) in thinking and communicating about needs, facilities, perspective, attitudes, and creativity. This will help the pastor and church leaders strengthen the church’s personnel, departments, discipleship, growth and more.
Pastor, have you wanted to:
1. Help your people see obstacles as opportunities.
2. Know what your leaders think could encourage more effective ministry.
3. Know if there is there an "elephant" in the room that you are not aware of?
4. Know how your leaders might finish this sentence, "We are at our best when we.....".
5. Release creativity to accomplish vision for each life and therefore the life of the church.
6. Have a safe place to listen for challenges that may be under the surface affecting the vision.
The 5 Steps begins with interviewing the pastor. The remaining four steps include a leadership forum and the preaching of a message, both incorporating the information, goals and current themes that have been part of the pastor's ministry to the congregation, and the unfolding vision of the church. The key is to customize the 5 Steps to the local church's present needs, vision and mission.
The follow-thru and action plan is not a "canned" program taken from church to church; it is a process that engages the pastor, leadership and congregation. Through selective discovery questions and responses, priorities will surface and a plan will be designed to meet the needs of the pastor and church.
Recently, as a result of my 5 Steps process, a pastor was approached by a person that had been so inspired that they overcame their apprehension and came forward to share with him their excitement about becoming a part of the church's vision and mission. It wasn't just an emotional response, it included a detailed plan for action. To say the least, he was thrilled.
